Diesel common rail & engine management

This one day technical course explains the operation of common rail diesel fuel systems and their associated engine management control functions.

Course content includes the following main subjects:

Common rail fuel system functions and operating principles.
Fuel supply system and high pressure pumps.
Fuel metering & rail pressure control.
Injectors: operation, testing and diagnosis (including piezo injectors and coding).
Common rail engine management control.
Glow plugs control systems.
Emissions control systems.
Exhaust gas after treatment systems.
EOBD in brief for diesel powered vehicles.
Fault finding and diagnostic techniques.

The course comprises of workshop based practical sessions using live vehicles and working engine test rigs. It is further supported by technical presentations and a wide range of component exhibits dismantled to show their inner workings.

At the start of the course, you will receive a detailed set of course notes. During the course, you will learn how to test the common rail diesel fuel system using diagnostic scan tool and test equipment in conjunction with oscilloscope, wiring diagrams and available technical information.

By the end of the course, you will have gained detailed knowledge and a thorough understanding of common rail diesel fuel systems.
